Overview
Scholarly is an AI-powered academic productivity and study companion designed to help students plan academic work, use AI-assisted study tools, process selected documents, track progress, communicate with AI tutors, and participate in supported study features.
This Privacy Policy explains the types of information Scholarly may process, how that information is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to users.
Information We May Collect
Depending on the features you use, Scholarly may process:
- • Account information such as your name, email address, profile details, avatar, authentication identifiers, and account settings.
- • Academic planning information such as study eras, weekly plans, assignments, tasks, deadlines, progress, streaks, quests, and preferences.
- • Content you enter into AI study tools, including prompts, assignment requirements, questions, instructions, and other study-related text.
- • Documents you specifically choose to upload for supported analysis, assignment processing, report generation, checking, or feedback features.
- • AI-generated results, reports, study responses, processing history, and other outputs associated with your account where cloud history is supported.
- • AI tutor conversations and content you choose to send through tutor chat features.
- • Study Room, Circle, invitation, membership, and other community-related information when collaborative features are available and used.
- • Purchase-related records such as product identifiers, subscription status, gem transactions, entitlement status, and purchase verification information.
- • Technical and diagnostic data such as device type, operating system, app version, crash information, performance data, network information, and security-related events.
- • Notification information needed to deliver reminders, processing updates, streak notices, account notices, and supported community notifications.
- • Support communications and information you provide when contacting us for help.
How We Use Information
We may use information processed through Scholarly to:
- • Create and maintain user accounts and securely authenticate users.
- • Provide academic planning, assignment workflows, study tools, AI tutors, document processing, history, and progress features.
- • Generate requested AI-assisted responses, reports, feedback, and study guidance.
- • Synchronize supported account information and app settings across cloud-connected features.
- • Deliver reminders, processing updates, account notices, and other requested notifications.
- • Verify subscriptions, purchases, gems, rewards, and access to premium features.
- • Operate optional rewarded-ad experiences where offered.
- • Maintain security, prevent misuse, investigate errors, troubleshoot failures, and improve app stability and performance.
- • Respond to support requests and important account or service communications.
- • Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our terms.
AI and Document Processing
When you use an AI-powered feature, Scholarly may send the information necessary to complete your request to cloud infrastructure, AI processing services, or other service providers involved in delivering that feature. This may include prompts, assignment instructions, selected document content, or other information you intentionally submit.
AI-generated results can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for a specific academic requirement. You should review generated content before relying on it, submitting it, or using it for an important academic decision.
Do not upload documents or include information that you do not have permission to process or that contains unnecessary sensitive personal information.
Google Sign-In and Account Authentication
Where Google Sign-In or another supported authentication method is available, Scholarly receives the account information authorized through that sign-in flow, such as an account identifier, name, or email address. Authentication providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
File Access on Android
When you choose to upload a document, Scholarly uses the device's system file picker so you can select the specific file you want to provide. On modern Android versions, Scholarly does not need broad access to all photos, videos, or files simply to let you choose a supported document.
Scholarly processes only the files you intentionally select for the requested feature, subject to the permissions and capabilities provided by your device and operating system.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Scholarly may send academic reminders, task and streak updates, completed-processing notices, report updates, account messages, and supported community activity. You can manage notification permissions from the app or your device settings where available.
Subscriptions, Gems and Purchases
Scholarly may offer subscriptions, gems, premium tools, or other in-app purchases. Purchases made through an app store or payment platform are processed by that provider. Scholarly may receive transaction identifiers, product information, purchase status, renewal or entitlement information needed to verify and provide purchased access, but does not need your full payment-card details to verify standard app-store purchases.
Rewarded Advertisements
Scholarly may offer optional rewarded advertisements for selected bonuses. These ads are shown when you choose to access the relevant reward opportunity. Advertising providers may process limited device, advertising, interaction, or performance information as permitted by your device settings, consent choices, applicable law, and the provider's own privacy terms.
Study Rooms, Circles and Shared Content
When collaborative features are available, information you intentionally share in a Study Room, Circle, invitation, profile, or other shared area may be visible to the people who are permitted to participate in that area. Avoid sharing sensitive personal, confidential, or private academic information in community spaces.
Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers only as reasonably necessary to operate Scholarly and provide requested features. These providers may support services such as authentication, cloud hosting, AI processing, notifications, app stability, analytics, customer support, advertising, or purchase verification.
We may also disclose information where required by law, legal process, safety needs, fraud prevention, security investigations, or to protect the rights and integrity of Scholarly, Develop Together, our users, or others.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the features you use, maintain your account, support legitimate operational and security needs, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Retention periods can vary depending on the type of information and whether it is stored locally on your device, associated with your cloud account, required for transaction records, or needed for security and legal purposes.
Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your Scholarly account and associated personal information directly in the app. Open the Settings tab in the bottom navigation bar, select Account Security, then tap Delete Account. A confirmation bottom sheet will appear.
Confirm your request to proceed with account deletion. You may also contact us at
apps@developtogether.org for assistance.
We may ask you to verify account ownership before completing a deletion request. Some limited information may be retained where required for legal, accounting, purchase verification, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate obligations.
Information stored only on your device may also be removed by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app, depending on the feature and your operating system. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete your Scholarly account.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information processed by Scholarly. However, no app, cloud platform, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information. You can also manage supported profile settings, notification permissions, device permissions, and optional advertising or consent settings through the app, your device, or the relevant platform where those controls are available.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Scholarly changes, new features are introduced, or legal and operational requirements evolve. The latest version will be posted on this page with the revised date.
